Police warning after people pull down fences and enter closed mansion near Chesterfield

Officers said they have received a rise in calls about individuals pulling down fencing and going inside Sutton Scarsdale Hall, which is currently closed.
A spokesperson for Holmewood, Grassmoor, Calow and Arkwright Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “While this might seem like a great idea, the hall is fenced off for a reason and is dangerous inside and individuals going inside are not only putting themselves at serious risk they are putting us at risk too.

English Heritage’s website states: “Sutton Scarsdale is between phases of a conservation project, with the whole of the hall fenced off until these works are complete.
“Please note, this means that there is no access to the hall.
“However, the grounds remain open.
“Due to Covid-19, please maintain social distancing.”
